Tried again this morning to video this flight, this time perched on 3m steps leaning against the garage...... It's bl**dy hard hand holding the 600mm steady enough for video. I was moving about more than the birds!!!! Decided to give up the idea of videoing until I can work off a tripod at ground level. That will mean a trip to the estuary as there's too much urban foreground at ground level here. Grabbed some stills at least. after a lot of recent wheeling and dealing I have now sold the 500mm f4 , the 200-400 f4 as they were to heavy for me , I also decided to get rid of the tamron 150-600 as it was not quiet right ? anyway I took a chance and bought a cheap grade 6 nikon 200-500 f5.6 VR from wex just to have a usable zoom , imagine my surprise on Friday when opening the box to find what I can only describe as a mint condition lens for around half the normal used price . had a few hours out with it over the weekend and very pleased with the results .heres a couple of redshanks taken in gale force winds hand held  NIKON D500 f/6.3 : Speed 1/2000 : ISO 720 : Lens AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR  NIKON D500 f/6.3 : Speed 1/1600 : ISO 400 : Lens AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR

It is always a great feeling to open what was described as just acceptable to find a pristine lens. I lucked out with a 80-400 from MPB a while back.
