Seriously ...I wonder if it was a foreign body INSIDE the phone which fell over a corner of the sensor while it was help pointing upwards. Then fell away during or after the first picture was taken.

Not so much a dust bunnie as a dust snake!

Maybe take the cell camera out to the Loch, you might confirm your hypothesis "Hehehe... But, of course, Nessie is real!!!"
