I just read that Google have acquire Nik Software. http://nikonrumors.com/2012/09/17/google-acquires-nik-software.aspx/ That will certainly change the landscape for Nikon as some of their software is produced by Nik. Nikon Capture is also produced by Nik Software.

Well I dont know what they intend to do with it but it may be the death of Nikon Capture or a real new improvement. I never liked CNX and it was very slow but produced great results.

It might signal that Google are getting serious and stepping up to the plate to compete with Apple/Adobe. They have an awful lot of casual users on Picassa, if they were to offer a 'Pro' version at a good price they could expect a decent transition putting them straight in there with the Big boys.
