Capture NX-D in its latest version is good, not quite as good as NX 2 because, for some strange reason, some of the image tools have moved from the tool bar/menus to the Edit pane on the right hand side. This leaves the Grey point and Colour Control points in the tool bar and the sharpening and curves in the Edit pane. Aside from the Black and White control points it is all there.

Once you realise where to find things NX-D is a very usable editor. I would describe it as a bit like using the latest version of Office after getting used to the earlier versions, you get there in the end. Of course full compatibility with Mac OS High Sierra is a bonus (it works with Mojave but Nikon haven't confirmed that yet)

We need to be really aware that rendering a 45MP RAW file (90MB file size) is NOT a trivial task and you are going to have to have hardware that is capable e.g. 16GB RAM, video card with 1-4GB RAM and large amounts of harddisk for storage. I store some of my processed images as TIFFs and a 45MP image gives a 200MB TIFF file. Enjoy the extra resolution but dont whinge about the extra cost, caveat emptor persists!

Now I know where to find them, Curves, I shall be able to use NX-D just as easily as NX2 but with a wider range of cameras.

Not that I would expect it to be particularly fast with a D850 or Z7 image, it wasn't fast with one from my 1J5 and that is 1/2 the size.
