HI
yes you knew I would be back, I got elements 10 loaded and running, uploaded some pics from the camera and tried to print one, GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! it came out worse than bad. so I looked for a printer control or setup and can find nothing helpfull:wtf:   I found a minimal set of controls 4types of paper, some standard sizes aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggg!!!! temped to toss the whole mess out the upstairs window (well maybe not quite) and that is not a MS window  LOL  the one print I got that was not a glossy print on matte paper was the same washed out muddy thing I was getting with ele 10 in windows, and nobody could figure that one out, so I switched to Capture NX2 and viola awesome prints. I am trying LR3 in my pc as I had a trial version and would like to try Apt 3.3 but still need to know about the printer controls I have 2 Epson printers a 810 and a r2000
I am just a old country boy and I know I am not the sharpest spoon in the drawer but It dose not take a bunch of smarts to look for something you just need them when you find it   Hummmmmmmm I think I just screwed up and made a profound statememt:diggingahole:

:salute: thanks for any assistance you can offer:bowing:

be well

Ed :cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::wine::wine::wine::wine::wine:

Have you set the two printers up in the Print setup dialogues in System Preferences?

I take it they are both on USB, If you are using a default setting in Elements then that might explain it.

I tend to Laser, and text at that, I rarely print images.

Hi Robert
Yes I have been there but that is not all that I need . I have searched on the net and tried some of the things from there but so far nothing very disapointing
I find it amazing that something so simple on the old pc is so hard to find on the mac
I expected things like this to happen but not with something soooooo important to me

Thinking about this...

Perhaps you need fresh drivers, you have a new iMac, so you are using a pre loaded OS and pre loaded drivers.

When you load your own OS you get to select the drivers (printer makes) you need.

Have you done the OS updates? New Macs don't always have the latest OS (or Drivers) installed, If you go to the Apple menu, select 'Software Update' and let it run it's course, will be several minutes. There may be some big downloads.

It isn't impossible the drivers from Apple are not the latest. If you go to the respective websites of the printer manufacturers, NOT the numerous upstart 'driver supplier sites' and download the latest genuine drivers that might be your solution. It may be that NX has a direct line to the printer bypassing the variable drivers to avoid this scenario.

JK, Doug or perhaps Tom would be better able to answer this one I have very little experience of printers.

Yes the updates is the first thing i did as soon as it was on the network, and it does have the driver for the 810 I have not tried the r2000 yet one issue at a time. I followed all the guide lines from apple support and still the same. I am trying to do this without ARRRRRGGGGGGG installing windows:sick::banghead:
Thanks for the support Robert, just knowing someone gives a rip and is trying is some comfort in the storm

Ed

Being on Lion you should have no serious issues, because it's fairly well sorted now, been out for a year so these issues should be resolved. I would call Apple support if the issue persists, You have 90 days free support, they can usually find a solution.

Take a ride out somewhere nice, take your mind off it. You will feel better for it.

Hi Robert

yes I have been there and done that, git-r-done as they say 105 miles later and a stop at my chiropractor and I feel great ready to tame lions and tigers and bears oh my!!

I wanted to tell you that I am not alone here I have a wonderful wife :needsahug: that is total support even though she is computer illiterate ( she is the lucky or more likely the smart one) and a small feline that tries to help when other dutys don't take her time.she is very busy she is a household supervisor, a nurse, a guard kitty, a fearless hunter,a lap cat, and a companion to both of us.

Your first thoughts about drivers were correct it seems, I went digging:diggingahole: on apples download sight and found an epson specific driver and made a huge difference on a scale of -5 to +5 they have gone fron a -4 to a +3 so I just need to burn some more paper and  ink and then record the settings and we will be good, well would you believe so so  and that is almost a deffinate maybe  o.O

:cheersduo::cheers::rasper:all this has been done with the epson 810 I have not been able to get really great prints from it they are better now so on to the r2000 which has always done very well so should be easy RIGHT!!!!!!   LOL

all the best     Ed

That's good Ed, I was reassured when I saw Doug had visited the forum yesterday evening and not made further suggestions, that I must be on the right track.

To get the last few points of image quality from the printer you would probably need custom profiles. These adjust the colour gamut the printer produces to more accurately reproduce what you see on the screen, on paper. These profiles depend on the type of paper, the ink and the printer of course. I have never used a profile, but as I say I don't print images much. There are members here who do use them and regard them as indispensable.

If printing is important to you then I suggest you check out profiles. We had a member on the old forum, Edmund Roland from Paris? who specialised in creating custom profiles.
