Just finished watching 'Light it, Shoot it, Retouch it' for hot-shoes on Kelby Training. He goes very budget on purpose using Cactus radio triggers, a Yuongnou 526 and Impact soft box and light stand. He's shooting everything manually and then adjusting flash power and camera settings by chomping the photos - but makes the point that working this way there is no difference in image quality between this kit and the expensive Nikon products.

If you need more data on the Yuongnuo unit see here. http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157631997033592/ http://flashhavoc.com/yongnuo-yn-568ex-review/ Another positive is that compared to the Nikon flashes the setup and use menus are in my opinion much better.

Well I'd be interested to hear how the Youngnou goes. I'll be buying a backup flash myself in the New Year (My cousin has asked me to do his wedding, need a back up to be happy). A nikon SB910 here is silly money. Even a totally unsupported grey import from the States is $500+

Speaking of flashes and wedding - I've been considering http://qtm.com/index.php/products/qflash/qflash-t5dr Anybody know much about them at all? From online research a lot of wedding pros seem keen, but it's even more expensive than the SB910.

I've declined the £112 repair of the Sb800. Written off that gun. Surprisingly, the SB 900, was a lot cheaper to resurrect and that's underway. I will see if I can manage with 2 main strobes ( plus 2 smaller units) as I rarely use all 3. But if I feel a gap, I will try the Youngnou you mention.
