Answer to all your woes is stay away from Apple products - they want to control you and rip you off with built in redundancy! Like Tesla who sell you a car and then tell you what you can do with it.....
Now he tells me. :needsahug:

All 3 lenses done….good old Windows 10.

It appears my Mac issue was the Sony step by step guide….which was for previous generation Macs to my Sonama machine. It explains why I was getting different messages and pop ups …..but it doesn’t excuse Apple for changing something as basic as a software update routine.

When I looked at the update on the Sony web site it give you the instructions for intel and M Macs.

Yes but they don’t mirror what actually appears on the screen of my M3. It may be me not understanding the Mac architecture but if the message isn’t the same as the step guide….I freeze. Lol

I will no doubt be more confident for the next update.

Once you get used to the Mac way of doing things it will do the next one fine. I was lucky in that I only had the 200-600 to do as the rest were up to date.
Now I'm waiting for the spring firmware update for the A1 if it arrives.

Of course it begs the question why we update lenses. They can’t make the glass better and I would be surprised if the speed & accuracy of focus could be any better. It seemed to me this was primarily just including new camera bodies to the lens compatibility.  A camera update could be more significant. Although I should say I haven’t noticed any deficiency in the A1’s functionality as it is.

Perhaps it is an update for the all-new Sony A9iii? For those who think they need to spend another £6000?

Well I wont be moving anytime soon.
This DPR review confirms that staying with my Fuji APS-C and Nikon FF is the best result.

The Z9 and ZF with my Z7 suit me so well for landscapes.
The Fuji stuff is great for less critical work such as portraits and general shooting.
