 Nikon releasing a lot of new lenses!
These lenses are not traditional fast (f2.8) lenses as in the past but considering the abilities of new Nikon cameras in low light tepresent a good compromise between weight and maximum aperture.

 My guess is they are also looking at their bottom line, they will make more from say, ten PF ~$3,500 lenses than they will from one $12,500 600mm f/4.0 lens. Apart from anything else economy of scale creeps in.

 Yes I agree and also get better press from selling 10 lenses rather than one!
