I went browsing elsewhere, the splash screen kicked in, I returned, swiped it away and hey presto, it was just as I left it.  The ultimate test would be to turn the Mac off but not keen on trying that, I have a very large UPS specially to avoid that scenario... So it seems to pass all I can throw at it.

On the BBC News website, the HYS comments give the option to have 'Newest first' or 'Oldest first' the default is 'Newest first' but I find it hard to follow the posts backwards especially when they are referring to previous posts, it's like reading a story backwards. I always switch to 'Oldest first', much easier.

The splash screen seems to be kicking in much quicker than previously? Getting a bit too quick maybe?

I am not sure you two are talking about the same things... Yes, it makes sense to read the topic itself cronologically, but when replying I am assuming you have read the topic and when typing a reply the review is there to refresh your memory as to what was said in the topic, in this case it makes sense to see the most recent posts at the top immediately under the editor. I have made a quick change, settable in config.php, that turns the REVIEW posts to newest first - if you want this to be user settable then I can add it to the preferences.
