What kind of speed do these boats achieve?

Well I'm not sure really but there was a 12year old last year who broke a record at about 55MPH for one of the smaller classes I believe the bigger boats get up in the 150MPH bracket. A quick glance at last years times shows one boat recorded at 171MPH. That is motoring! That appears to be a World and National record for the class of boat. http://www.conistonpowerboatrecords.co.uk

I think it was a similar thing that did Sir Donald Campbell in. The wind got under the front of it.

It's a fine line. I remember the Campbell crash well, we were working on a roof, with a transistor radio, listening to the commentary and heard of the crash first hand, I think Raymond Baxter was the commentator? Coniston Water is only about ten miles from here, we look right up the valley.

Thanks Tom, same pier, different light... And a lot less water. The man is a local postman taking his son, with the furry cap, fishing. Attachment: Screen Shot 2013-11-20 at 21.11.50.jpg (Downloaded 28 times)

That last one is a Great shot , having those silhouettes stand out from a dark background and the casual attitude from the people shown prevents eerieness ,yet lends mystique to the overall scene .. that`s competition material![]()
