Driven through the area many times Eric whilst on our way to the Ardeche cross country by various routes. Used to have friends who ran a business down there. As you say some amazing museums all over France and many tie ins with our own history in the UK. Remember in the Loire region coming across the burial place of Richard the Lion Heart.

On the Winter front I wonder how Ray is fairing on the US eastern seaboard with the current hurricane

Indeed.

And Gary (Squarerigger) who sails on replica ships. Do hope it wasnt his Bounty replica that got caught up in Sandy.

I have posted a Sandy thread in the Everything Else.

Yes I do hope that Gary was not involved in the Bounty replica rescue. Seems like the ship is fated!!

Thanks for the thoughts but I am just fine. My sailing is limited to the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery. Sad loss of life and Ship. I can tell you from experience, it is a very humbling experience to be caught in a vessel during a threatening storm. Won't go into details but this is what one looks like after 12 hours trying to save a 17th century sailing vessel which is at the end of it's useful life and not in good repair. Pic of me and the old Godspeed when we finally made it to a condemned pier after 12 + hours thinking we were going to breakup at any moment. We were only a crew of 4 when normally we would have a crew of 12. Went to Church after.

I have never owned my own boat. I find it's much better if you sail someone else's and let them have it built for $2.5 million. :applause:

Excellent detail in that shot Dave, is it the D4 or D800?
