I thought there was already a thread on Landscapes but cannot find it.o.O

So worth starting another thread.

It’s a bit of a cheat adding these photos to 2025 as they were from an earlier set of visits.

At least it will “change the scenery”on the Recent images.

Thx Chris. If you want to move this content over there…that’s fine by me.

Where am I supposed to input that search?
When I input “Landscapes” in the search box on the left side…. it doesn’t go to that location.

Still cannot find “Landscapes” using the p search box, so I used your link and inserted an old photo to bump it to the Recents. o.O

Hi Eric - the search returns results in date order - so not exactly helpful!

I will have a look and see if I can refine the seach to give a topic name result as an alternative to the word search result.

Achill Island today with rather overcast weather but what a dramatic view of this part of the Atlantic Drive.

Lovely colours there Graham:thumbs:

You can see the colour white balance on the Sony A1 is spot on. The RX isn’t quite as good in those earlier shots.

I remember going on my holidays as a boy down on the south coast.

Seem to remember it was black and white in those days too.:-)

There is always something timeless about mono. Amazing clouds

Was that photographed in mono mode or modified in PShp afterwards?

Now that You say red,..I thought of Rollei`s sports filter ( yellow-green )..but You are probably right, perhaps I remembered Graham having a Rollei that I thought of that sports filter.

The B&W image was shot in colour on my I Phone and converted to B&W in Photoshop. This image was taken with my Sony A1 and the 24-105mm lens of these dramatic clouds on our recent Irish trip. I meant to load the 2nd image but first one has been loaded (here in error!) a few days ago the lower image is about a mile away of the same mountains, about an hour later.

Is the lens data correct?
24-70 not 28-70 I think?

Maybe the lens data was incorrectly entered.

You will have to ask Eric - I have a 28-70 - the camera embeds the data in the metadata headers of the image file and it gets that from the lens ,,,

To my knowledge there hasn’t been a 28-70 f2.8 this century…certainly I never had one.

Mine was the 24-70mm f2.8….the one that got bounced.

I dont suppose the rebuild messed with the signature??

Strange …it seems to be showing 24-70 on most of the images??.?

Erm - there is one sitting on my 850!

I am clearly having a bad night. :needsahug:
I thought that lens predated digital.  Anyway all I know is I never had one…………….unless……

Edit:
The more you think the more you wonder……….I had 3x 24-70s before I got one that had chromatic aberration under control in the early days of the lens c.2007.    But I now have a vague recollection that the camera shop lent me a used lens for a few days while waiting for replacement 24-70 stock to arrive. That might have been a 28-70, being the closest to what I had bought and paid for!  It’s the only possible explanation I can offer.

OK - mystery deepens

Image 1 - D3
Lens Info 28-70mm f/2.8
Serial Number 2010103

Image 2
Lens Info 24-70mm f/2.8
Serial Number 2010103

Maybe Photoshop corrupted the data?

Never seen that lens.
I have to say that 28 is not my favourite lens focal length.  I would rather use 35mm or 24mm.

My head hurts. Same serial number???  I think I will give up and say it is either a data corruption or possibly a photo taken with a loaner lens….but not that confident I used the loan lens on ‘hobby’ photography. Enough.

It doesn't say whether the number is for the lens or the camera - it may well be the camera serial no - look on the bottom of the D3
