Is the lens data correct?
24-70 not 28-70 I think?

Maybe the lens data was incorrectly entered.

You will have to ask Eric - I have a 28-70 - the camera embeds the data in the metadata headers of the image file and it gets that from the lens ,,,

To my knowledge there hasn’t been a 28-70 f2.8 this century…certainly I never had one.

Mine was the 24-70mm f2.8….the one that got bounced.

I dont suppose the rebuild messed with the signature??

Strange …it seems to be showing 24-70 on most of the images??.?

Erm - there is one sitting on my 850!

Made up to Aug 2007 - superceded by the 24 -70 2.8
No data for this image as it is a snap from the phone

I am clearly having a bad night. :needsahug:
I thought that lens predated digital.  Anyway all I know is I never had one…………….unless……

Edit:
The more you think the more you wonder……….I had 3x 24-70s before I got one that had chromatic aberration under control in the early days of the lens c.2007.    But I now have a vague recollection that the camera shop lent me a used lens for a few days while waiting for replacement 24-70 stock to arrive. That might have been a 28-70, being the closest to what I had bought and paid for!  It’s the only possible explanation I can offer.

OK - mystery deepens

Image 1 - D3
Lens Info 28-70mm f/2.8
Serial Number 2010103

Image 2
Lens Info 24-70mm f/2.8
Serial Number 2010103

Maybe Photoshop corrupted the data?

Never seen that lens.
I have to say that 28 is not my favourite lens focal length.  I would rather use 35mm or 24mm.

My head hurts. Same serial number???  I think I will give up and say it is either a data corruption or possibly a photo taken with a loaner lens….but not that confident I used the loan lens on ‘hobby’ photography. Enough.

It doesn't say whether the number is for the lens or the camera - it may well be the camera serial no - look on the bottom of the D3
