Is the lens data correct? 24-70 not 28-70 I think? Maybe the lens data was incorrectly entered.

You will have to ask Eric - I have a 28-70 - the camera embeds the data in the metadata headers of the image file and it gets that from the lens ,,,

But I now have a vague recollection that the camera shop lent me a used lens for a few days while waiting for replacement 24-70 stock to arrive. That might have been a 28-70, being the closest to what I had bought and paid for! It’s the only possible explanation I can offer.

OK - mystery deepens Image 1 - D3 Lens Info 28-70mm f/2.8 Serial Number 2010103 Image 2 Lens Info 24-70mm f/2.8 Serial Number 2010103 Maybe Photoshop corrupted the data?

It doesn't say whether the number is for the lens or the camera - it may well be the camera serial no - look on the bottom of the D3
