We set-up a photo session at the Gosport Camera Club last night with special thanks to Jim and Family who came with their super you dogs we all had a good evening. These are with my Sony A1 and my Elinchrom Studio Flash. Lots of fun was had by all.

Not sure what the background colour is but I think it makes the skin tones for the people to look slightly jaundiced.  This is more noticeable in the first image.
The two middle images of just the dogs look 'correct' but that is an eyeball view of the images on my ipad pro.

If you zoom in on the people faces then they look correct as well, so I will say that the background colour is not great for people.

No choice background was the meeting room wall and I only had a sheet of sacking on the chair for dogs not planning to take some of  the family as well!l

For Graham's dog photos. :-)

I am sure that others will be added to this thread as well.

Eric can you see if your system agrees with my screen colour on the ipad pro.  These images look a little yellow biased to me.

My Elinchrome Flash 5500 Kelvin and Sony A1 always set on M for all flash photography and W/B also set at 5500 K colour prints and images on my very good Lacie 324 Monitor are all spot on. QED?

Jonathan

I think a lot of what you are seeing is bounced colour from the background.

I have taken Grahams images and toned down the background and it makes a difference to the overall appearance.

The maximum white (ignoring the border) on the dogs head is "perfect" white if you use the eyedropper. So the light FROM the Elichrom is good.

Did a bit of Photoshop to this one to improve the background.

So it is the background that 'taints' the image.
Eric's edits have really improved the visual rendering.

I have seen a lot of Graham's images from when he had his own studio in both print and  digital images and they were always spot on so as Eric points out the eye is being fooled by the background or some other effect.

I dont know what to suggest for future shoots (Ahem, repaint the wall!) but I had a similar situation in Spain at the photo club there, except the taint was blue due to ceiling tiles that seemed to reflect blue light even though they looked cream.
