They are quick....but so are squirrels! My neighbour told me that he had been sitting outside,surveying his garden ( more like an estate ) , watching a group of woodpigeons feeding on his lawn. Some distance beyond them was a sparrowhawk sitting in a tree in his garden. It was immobile for quite some time, until it decided to make a sortie and flew down to the pigeons, but, having frightened them rigid, it returned to its perch in the tree! He thought it had probably already had dinner, and its eyes were bigger than its belly, so it cried off. ![]() Speaking of sparrowhawks,I found a dead one in my garden almost exactly 2 years ago, ![]() Canon PowerShot SX170 IS f/4.5 : Speed 1/100 : ISO 100 : Lens Unknown 5-80mm just below one of the conservatory windows. I could only assume that it had flown into ![]() Canon PowerShot SX170 IS f/4.0 : Speed 1/200 : ISO 100 : Lens Unknown 5-80mm ![]() Canon PowerShot SX170 IS f/4.5 : Speed 1/125 : ISO 100 : Lens Unknown 5-80mm the window and broken its neck.
