Hi, I have started this thread for my son, Chris. He came with me to Skye and brought the 'family' D3300 and it's 18-105 lens.

Chris has taken many photo's this trip and he would love to share them with you. He took the photos entirely on his own while I was taking mine, I have had no input on the taking side but I am processing them for him.

Robert.

First off, a red flower!

Welcome Chris.
Now we can see your photos as well as your Dad's. I am sure that we will see similarities in style but also it is an opportunity to grow your own ideas.

Dad's not happy about that pic. Way too dark. Trying via Flicker:

That's a lot better, the shade areas are right now.

I have discovered Chris took some panorama stacks. This is the first, it is a bit dark due to the position of the sun but I am very impressed, they were all hand held, so far as I know because I would have been using the tripod.

This has been made from three upright images which each had about ½ overlap on it's neighbour. I stitched them in Lightroom.

Robert

It the Explorers garden at Pitlochry there is a wooden archway.

The first pic is simply processed. Exposure and contrast etc.

This version is the above basic image which has also been processed using Nik filters. 'Detail extractor', 'tonal contrast' and 'Darken lighten centre'. We felt the original image lacked some impact and Chris asked me to boost it's presence. This is my attempt to increase the presence of a nice image. Not sure if I have succeeded.
