This rumour was shown on the NikonRumors site. http://nikonrumors.com/2014/04/02/breaking-nikon-d9300-dslr-camera-on-the-horizon.aspx/ Not sure if it fits or not in the plan. Nikon seem to have lost their way a bit in the sense that they are not following what was their old plan. Maybe they have a new strategic direction. For me the concentration on the consumer grade DX (APS-C) range rather than upgrading the D300 to a D400 is strange. This is a key product as it spans professional/serious amateur/new entrant camera purchase. The upgrade of the D300 which is really only an exchange of sensor electronics from a D5300 into a D300S body plus some small electronic twiddles to make the functionality such as Wifi and/or GPS actually come alive. Sigh got to wait and see. Dont really want another camera other than a D400 to replace my D300.

It would work for me but some people consider them more likely to break if they add this feature.

Would like a D300s with faster buffer, higher ISO performance (better noise handling)... Interested but wouldn't buy just to get...GPS data, articulating LCD. Not interested in the least in wifi - consider it a negative. Would not consider a new body that was less sealed and dust proof....hmmmm, I think I want a D400

Still waiting for a D400 but would have a serious look at this. The DX format has a lot going for it as a 2nd body for a working professional or a lighter system for international travel.

So why isn't THIS the D400 .....called something else? We may be getting hung up on a model number. If the D9300 is as robust as the D300 and has all the speed, IQ and performance of recent pro bodies, it doesn't matter what's stamped on the front.

If things are looking rough you just leave the LCD against the camera or face inwards when hurricane hunting.  I've had 4 cameras, a JVC movie camera, a Panasonic and a D5000 and D5100, with these articulating LCD's and never had any problems. In fact I find that being able to set the screen face in against the camera protects it much better than the plastic screens.
