The Nikon D5300 is announced.
http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikon-d5300/

This is what I consider to be the zenith of consumer cameras.
What more can a non-professional user want?

If the fabled D400 ever releases then it just has to have this specification with a fast AF engine and it will please many/all takers.

Nikon are pushing out some good lower end cameras but still no D300 replacement that people are waiting for.

Perhaps it's so advanced they dare not release it yet, from fear of being accused of being in a time warp!!!

Well the D300 was a few years ahead of the game when it was released ....all those 6years ago. In contract to the routine new models and upgrades, it stands as a 'classic' even after all this time.

If Nikon take the same sort of step forward with a D400 it will be worth the wait.

I have to agree with you both and Canon are not in a hurry to replace the 7D.

it may be they are both waiting for the other to make the first move.
