Dont know any japanese ladies!
However I was considering a D600 if it fits in my underwater housing. :-)

With the housing on the D600 you need to have large rufty tufty diver hands to hold the housing.

You just need a geisha to load it into the housing.

Discovered that the D600 hasn't got the one press on the back rocker switch to zoom full frame function. Another reason why I was right not to buy. ;-)

I keep forgetting to answer this.......
Apparently it is on the Nikon firmware update list for the one press magnify item.
However until it arrives it would be just vapourware or rumour and an aggravation in real world use.

To my mind the D600 is more similar to the D7000, D90 etc

If we ignore sensor size and resolution only the D800 compares favourably to the D300S and D700

When I worked in retail I handled insurance replacements where equal or better was often specified
At the moment, were the D300S to be discontinued, the D800 is the correct replacement for a D300S for the reasons outlined by Gilbert

We have to think of the D600 as full frame consumer/entry level enthusiast while the D800 is the Full Frame Prosumer/Entry Level Pro

The D7100 is the DX consumer/entry level enthusiast with the D300S still acting as DX Prosumer/Entry Level Pro (just shows how far ahead of it's time that camera was)

I can't believe Nikon wouldn't continue to make cameras for this segment
