I think you are right in spotting these subtle wordings ("EH-6 ... can also be used").
I had missed them (in the section on Other accessories) in the pdf manual.

My local dealer seems to think it is ok

(Edit) ... I just checked the manuals online... B is rated at 5A and EH-6(a) at 4.4A. I would take the risk myself ... Lower current should do no damage ( but might not drive the camera )

 Just checked on the nikon website ... it is definitely OK (Article 52002)
