Hi guys,
It's been a while, how's everyone been?? :cheersduo:

Anyway, I just ordered a new D4 from B&H after dropping my D2X on concrete and destroying it beyond repair. Well the D4 is obviously back ordered, and they tell me they can't give me any indication of how far out delivery may be. In the meantime, I am left only with my D7000, and no backup.

Anyone else order one of these? And if so, have you received it yet - and how long did it take?

Thanks,
Brad

Good to see you over here Brad.

I guess it depends on stock levels but I thought that D4 were back in stock and D800 will be in same position in the next few weeks.

Thanks, Ralph!! found one at Best Buy, and they even tossed in expedited shipping at not additional cost. I'll have it by Tuesday.

I also purchased the SB-910 flash unit. It will be nice having the newer technology both of these units have to offer. I have been very happy with my D2x for most applications, but I am really excited about the low-light capabilities of the D4.

Anyway, thanks again for pointing me to those sources!! I have a shoot next week that will really put things to the test.

-Brad

Just received the camera. Lot's of reading to catch up on... have to use it all day tomorrow and Thursday.

First observation is, that it is noticeably larger than my D2x. Thicker and taller.

More to come...

$6000 camera, and they no longer include the protective LCD cover. What's up with that?

The SB-910 flash is HUGE! Everything feels much larger than the D2X

The viewing screen is supposed to be more resistive to scratching than the D2x.

I think you can get peel off clear plastic covers Brad.

Perhaps the extra size is to make up for the cheapskate lack of LCD cover... ;-)

Mind you it IS an FX body.

Yea, I just ordered the stick-on cover. Having nothing on that LCD just scares the s*&t out of me.

Well I've only had this thing a few hours, but there is really a lot to like about it. Granted, I am coming from a D2X, so it's quite a leap in technology. But I am really looking forward to putting it to the test over the next few days.

I'll post a few images when I get back.
