It is just that I have had the D500 longer and my 500mm lens live on it so I just pick it up and go!After taking over 5000 frames with it it is now an old trusted friend. I have yet to try the D850 for action pixs.

I know you dont like investing in duplicate kit but a D500 paired with a D850/810/750 would be a good combo. If you have FX lenses you are in a great place.

Yes agree 100% I hope both cameras will be with me for some time. In the past we had to keep changing too many times as new development came up nearly every 18 months. 20 MP is more than enough for nearly all normal photography.

In a DX camera with long telephoto lenses then 20-24MP is enough. Any more brings problems. Similarly with 45MP on FX cameras and a wideangle to short telephoto (<150mm) it gives you ability to crop and also great detail but moire starts to raise its head!

It's not so much the 'investing' in duplicate equipment, so much duplicate equipment laying idle. Happily buy two models if I had a regular use for both. I tend to grab the first camera to hand and make do.
