What is expected from Nikon in 2017?

Well the rumour mill is remarkably quiet so what is coming?

Apparently there is a Df2 coming, there will be the BL and DL cameras when they finally arrive.

What do we need and what do we want?

My view is that we need new improved FF cameras to replace the D600/610, D750 and D810.

The D810 needs an update to a 50MP camera. Many will say this need does not really exist.

The D750 needs to be updated to have a better AF system.

The D610 needs to be updated to have a better AF system and EXPEED4.

There is no mirrorless system that provides high quality results for professionals. The current V and J systems have a sensor that is too small with noisy output at higher ISO(>800) levels.

D810 is not in need of 50MP!! Look at how good the D500 is.

Yes but Canon has a 50MP monster (EOS 5DS R), so Nikon will probably feel the need to match them.

I agree the D500 is good but it is APS-C, so a FF equivalent would be something that satisfies many consumers, myself included.
A D750 replacement is expected as is a Df replacement.

My Fuji XT2 image quality is as good/better than the Nikon D500 but the AF on the Nikon is better than anything I have every used!

I think the D750 replacement with the D500/D5 focus system.

I think that is a good bet Iain.
I would probably go that route as long as it has the same battery as the D750. My D3S will then go in PX.

I understand that Nikon are releasing the DBREX50 for U.K.market this year.

It only takes photos when in the UK and has inbuilt software to auto airbrush out any immigrants that stray into the shot.

No pricing has yet been released but it's expected to be expensive being a dedicated U.K. only model. However, with investment returns now hitting rock bottom Nikon expect a good uptake on what's likely to become another classic mistake, sorry model.

:applause:

In a serious side: I think Nikon need to visit a few used equipment shops. There is a definite move away from Nikon and Canon towards Sony and Fuji, and now even Hasselblad are getting in on the mirrorless camera set up I think they will regret missing this boat.

Nikon have been slower than Canon to appreciate the values of mirrorless. If you have LiveView built into a camera it is potentially mirrorless.

Nikon have the V1-V3/J1-J5 series of cameras that are mirrorless. It would be really easy to do as Canon have done and redesign a camera with mirrorless functionality from one of the D5x00 range of cameras.

I suspect there are a lot of people flirting with mirrorless. Whether they will remain exclusively mirrorless users remains to be seen. I, for one, am unsure whether my long term camera will be Fuji X series.

The Nikon D500 is an exciting 'mirrored' evolution. All Nikon need to do, is keep the significant developments coming ...and a bit like the D3 did, they will pull back the drifters.

A lot of rumours of a possible D7300 this spring.
