I found out something on my D600 that is not present on any other Nikon. If you are in Aperture Priority mode then the rear command dial changes the EV compensation, similarly if you are in Shutter Priority the front sub-command dial changes the EV compensation. There is no way as I see it to disable this. Yuk, yuk, yuk. It is not like this on my D3, D3S, D700, D800, D300, D90, D80, D70, D1x, only on the D600! Please can someone tell me it is not like this on the D810, D750, D610, D7100. It drives me nuts to find the EV keeps changing as my thumb rests neatly on the rear command dial!

Currently on my D610 in Aperture Priority mode the front command dial changes the aperture and the rear does nothing. In in Shutter Priority the rear changes the shutter speed and the front does nothing. Had some problems early on with the rear dial changing image quality settings instead of ISO but it turned out to be a fat thumb. ![]()

OK found the item. Easy EV Compensation was set to OFF but not OFF-OFF. Now done and camera working as I need.

At least Nikon still gives us an instruction book very much a thing of the past with lots of other hi tech equipment.

I put the PDFs of all my cameras on my iPad and iPhone so they are readily available.
