I have the D800 and find it much more demanding to use than the D600 except in the studio where the use of flash negates any camera shake issue. I really am wondering if 24MP is that sweet spot. I just wish Fuji would release a 24MP camera in the X series.

The D7100 is 24MP on DX and works very well from results I have seen. Rumour mill says D7200 is to be announced next week at CES in January 2015. The D7200 is to be like the D750 but DX.

I suppose if the conventional wisdom of larger pixels are better is correct, the IQ of the D7100 should suffer more from camera shake than its predecessor the D7000 at only 16mp. It will be interesting to see if the D7200 will be the D400 in all but name? Nikon may be steadfastly sticking to x000 numbering for DX and consigning x00 to FX from now on.

Eric, I decided on it after reading reviews and comparisons and seeing so many people waxing lyrical about it. And for the first time, I could actually afford to buy something decent that would do me for a looooong time to come! Hopefully it won't prove to be too difficult a beast to drive. I've had a play with the d610 but I just didn't like it. The d810 felt much better in my hands - a bit like the d200.

I think the difference between the D800 and D600 feel is down to the distance between the lens and the grip and also the shape of the grip. I agree that the D800/810 feels better.
