Don't know if anyone has posted this elsewhere, but if not... http://www.dpreview.com/articles/7726365599/photokina-2014-nikon-interview-large-sensor-mirrorless-could-be-a-solution Apparently, they are looking into a d300 successor. Sigh...maybe we need a petition!

Thanks for that Judith, it seemed a very guarded conversation, not giving much away. It seemed to suggest the 'D400' is only at the consideration stage... Which seems a little short sighted to me, although at the rate they are producing FX models perhaps the lead time, once a decision is made may not be great. A carbon fibre D400? Mmmm...

Giving absolutely nothing away! Grrr... There's no way after all this time it is only at the consideration stage. They will be aware of people having been grumbling for years about it so it must have been considered to death by now but kept on the back burner. Their R&D people must keep an eye on forums and other sites relating to Nikon products. Why both they and Canon have done nothing about the grumbling till now is strange. They will no doubt be monitoring the new Canon's sales. Hopefully it is selling well as that will bode well for those of us who want the camera - or I may have to defect to the dark side!!

Don't quite understand why they need to 'keep' monitoring customers views...those views are quickly obtained with some market research or as you say monitoring forums. It doesn't need protracted deliberation. But i am sure they will be monitoring Canons progress. My money is on a D400 early next year. The D750 looks interesting.

With some luck and a couple of adaptors I will be able to mount my old Leica Visoflex housing on Nikon's new full frame mirrorless.

Don't like what I've read about the D600 and I had a shot of one and didn't like the feel of it either. It's 400 quid cheaper in Mifsuds, never mind another 300 cheaper online. Am not buying just now, just eyeing.  Those 36MP could come in handy for my wildlife efforts as there's much more scope for cropping that dot in the distance and still producing something recognisable at useable quality. I also want something with enough bells and whistles on to keep me happy for a good few years. I'm not like you, with a room full of cameras to choose from. I'll wait and see what magnificent cashback offers are on over xmas this year. I still have my £40 cash card to spend from last year. Totally forgot I had it lol. And, who knows, Nikon might even come up with that nice D400 thingy.

No Judith. Shetland got independence. It is NOT in Scotland talk to a Orkney or Shetlander! It is in UK. Not just a one way street this independence stuff!Now we have the Catalunia and probably the Valencia independence brigades starting up. Madness and head up ass thinking. Mind you AS (Shrek) was pretty good at that. Hopefully Nicola Sturgeon will get elected. Smart cookie!

Actually, the Shetlanders would probably rather be returned to Norway. The islands were given to Scotland as a wedding gift a few centuries back when a Norwegian princess married a Scottish king.
