Hope it happens soon for you.
House buying/selling in UK can be a nightmare as solicitors seem to lack any sense of urgency.

Tell me about it!

The daughter of a close friend has bought a house and has been waiting for the key to move in for a week. Frustrated by the lack of involvement from the solicitor, she flew at the mortgage provider ( the solicitor claimed they were holding things up)

The mortgage lender sent her a copy of the last email from her solicitor which clearly states “…there’s no urgency on this…”.

She’s a bit of a Norfolk terrier so I expect the solicitors bill to be challenged and not paid with any “urgency”.

What’s the old joke…..

”What do call a group of 6 solicitors chained together on the sea bed?”

“ A good start”

When we sold my father’s house they made several oversights holding things up.
We came to the conclusion that, like accountants, they were using junior/part qualified people to rough things out ready for a senior stamp of approval.
Simple things fell through the cracks and the juniors parked things half done waiting for the boss to tick the work.
At least that’s what it seemed like.
For example, the purchaser was wanting to sign……the solicitor told me they were “waiting for the purchaser to sign”.
When I spoke to the unaware purchaser, he dragged his wife out of her sick bed and drove to the solicitors office to sign.
Proactivity and sense or urgency seem lacking when there’s a meter running.
