To be honest, Geoff I wasn't expecting any interest on the forum as few UK members these days, it was just for info. I was planning to ebay the items, but if your son Is looking for any specific Nikon gear give me a PM.

Damn! Wish I´d held off buying my 24-70. ACS have now had my lens for 6 weeks. I´m pretty pissed off at the time it is taking and now they´re saying the repair bill is going to be 558.00 and not the 376.00 they originally quoted. *chokes* Apparently Nikon have hiked up their repair prices. Not happy.

I would be getting it back from them with a note saying "beyond economic repair" and then claiming a new lens on the insurance ...or at least a good chunk of its used market value. You can buy a used 24-70 for £700 on eBay. So a £558 repair on a £700 worth lens is (imho) uneconomic. ![]() ![]()

I only bought it in January, Eric! It hit the decks first time I used it. :( The only insurance I have is my travel insurance and it only covers me for up to £300 so theoretically, I will only have to cough up £258 myself which softens the blow - as long as my insurance pays out. I am starting to do more photography now so I'm going to investigate professional insurance but I'm kind of stuffed re that lens. What's really pissing me off is that they have had it since 19th April and I still don't have it back. Phoning them yet again in the morning. I just got a booking to do some photos for a country club next week and I might have go and hire a lens. ![]()

You need to get that lens back Judith as it is a critical lens for general use. ACS are usually very quick at turn around of conversions and repairs.

I'm in the same boat, Eric except that I haven't sold any gear yet. I'm thinking that i have some lenses I really NEVER use and it's only common sense to sell them. At the top of that list is a barely used 200mm f2 HUGE and incredibly sharp lens with it's own case with a shoulder strap - low often do I carry that around? Right... Except for some animal shots or indoor architectural work, I'm almost completely carrying Fuji these days. That said, I have to keep hiding my credit card so I don't "accidentally" buy a pair of those Profoto B1s that do TTL with Nikons and allow up to 10 shots per second...oh, yes, and they have internal rechargeable batteries - no wires at all!!! Maybe I'll let a few lenses go for 2 of them... Tom
