JK, it's certainly your call, but I think it would make sense to delete the thread. Why do we want to leave something in the forum that some could reasonably feel is offensive. I was about to add a comment but decided not to as I really did not want to be in the thread once the comments were included. Jeff, there are many people who are reading this forum, some may join in occasionally, some never. Kathy has been a member of this forum since long before me, since the very early days and while she is no longer posting regularly she takes a keen interest in what goes on here, as do many others. Kathy is hoping to re-kindle her photography and what she an others need is inspiration, which your photography undoubtedly provides, hey you even got me down to the beach at Prestatyn! Some people are sensitive to gender stuff, that needs to be bourn in mind. Kathy will I am sure continue to visit, even if she doesn't post much but other regular visitors may just be offended and never revisit. So, while the any other subjects section means just that, please bear in mind you are addressing a wide audience, young and old, robust and sensitive.

Robert: "Some people are sensitive to gender stuff' Yep. but then it depends from which gender. Additionally, the jest doesn't even need to be directed at the person complaining, just the fact that some unknown female somewhere has been described as a bag of spanners, obviously means EVERY female has been suggested to look like that. It's just an opportunity to jump on the old gender bandwagon & have a whinge, which I have no desire to entertain.

steve of oxford wrote:Black fox; "but unfortunately in the good old u.k these days..." yep i can only but refer back to roberts post of earlier this month "has the cat got your mouse" so is it preferable to say nothing and let the site owners think its a waste of time or say something and get shot down in the process . i used to frequently (daily) visit treasure hunting forums i.e metal detecting and i can assure you that as there is a potential serious amount of money to be made at that game the arguments such as "someone was on my favourite field yesterday " led to major slanging matches ,sometimes real fisticuffs ,blackmail threats ,and cars having to be kept out of sight in fear of vandalism at good sites . however when these online slanging matches took place (and still do) the forum viewing numbers rose enormously ,really going off the scale in the case of a lengthy argument ipso facto ,milords i rest my case

Hi It think we all have at least one neighbor like this, mine moved away my prayers were answered. I have been a member of several forums, and there are some that don't moderate language or comments, now I am no prude but I don't visit those forums any more because, of the bad language and treatment of others and petty arguments. I am here because of the friendly and intelligent comments, and the vast amount of knowledge and support available, sure we vent a little here, and poke a little fun at life and each other but, it is mostly to be humorous and harmless. This is a group of people that have an interest in photography be it for fun as a hobby or a means to make a living and to communicate with those with the same interests. If the focus of this forum ever changes I will be one of the first to leave! this is a fantastic forum THANK YOU to those that keep it that way. Ok I will get off my soap box, haven't used it for a while it needs some work it is getting a little shakey  take care and be well Ed

I agree Ed, I joined a car forum recently because of my rekindled interest in car building, It's the forum for the Owner Club of the Marque I own, a Marlin kit car. I made one or two posts about welding and the owner was so impressed he asked me to address any welding issues on the forum, which I did. One member (who rarely posts normally) made an impertinent post directly addressed to me basically telling me to stop telling him how to suck eggs. It seems he is also a welder. Very few of the general membership know the first thing about welding and seemed to appreciate my contributions. There was silence on the forum for 36 Hrs. So it must have upset others too. Frankly I don't need it and won't tolerate it. I had been keeping a running thread account of my car re-build, with the occasional photograph, but this incident has upset me so much that I haven't posted since, although I still in contact with some members by eMail and PM.
