This isn't an image processing question so I put it here. I purchased software called 'WinZip' a while back but ended up uninstalling the thing as it would essentiall take control of any downloads of either zipped or unzipped files and not permit me to override its functions. Does anyone know of a 'simple' software program that would allow me to zip a file or group of files without all the other ancillary nonsense added?  I want this as this is how I transmit my jpegs to the U.S. copyright office for registration.

Stuffit?

I realise this isn't helpful but on the Mac if you select several images. Then control click you get the option to compress those image files into one zipped file, just like that.

Is it possible the PC has a similar facility?

BTW It would qualify as an image editing software question in my book.

I am surprised you have problems with Winzip. I have used the free version for many years. It is simplicity itself and it's never done anything other than zip or unzip files for me. Windows also does a RAR zip.
