Not a bad manifesto. But I agree with eric .... Reading is not unique.

Read some Jasper fforde (unless you are him of course) and chill out.

Meanwhile, ask why so many of the forum are ex-pats

Could it be .......Because the standards that were once present no longer exist or are respected.

In a country where gloss and bullshit exist side by side and they cant see the spin or smell the stench of corruption because they are suffering from the I'm too busy looking for another £$€ syndrome.

Eric; "Greedy men lining their pockets with other people's money....it's everywhere."

....how about this then: Reading's CCTV network allegedly there to protect people, but in fact there for no reason than anti-motorist revenue collection, read on:

....Mr X, managing Director of E-mpirical has the following to say of himself:

"I founded e-mpirical ltd to enable SMEs and Public Sector organisations to become fully aware of the benefits and opportunities provided by technology, enhance their business and process reviews as a consequence and build the infrastructure, confidence and competence to deliver sustainable improvement or radical change. The company's philosophy, 'People and organisations first, reflects the commitment to use technology as part of the solution rather than an end in itself."

His Resume:
Current
Managing Director at e-mpirical ltd
Past
Managing Director at GTW Ltd
Project Director CyberSkills at ICL
Project Director at Reading Borough Council
Chief Revenues Officer at Plymouth City Council
Revenues Officer at Wycombe District Council

Specialties
Electronic Government, Project and Programme Management, Organisational Change, Systems Thinking, Lean, Continuous Improvement, ICT Strategy, Partnership Working, Building the capacity to deliver local solutions to National Government initiative.

So this Orwellian character, Mr X, who specialises in delivering electronic governance, spends twenty years in local government including Reading Borough Council as a Project Director and Chief Revenue Officer at Plymouth....and gets contracts for his Company from the local government he used to work for.

Image of cohorts acquired from public domain, pictured L-R; Mr X, Civil Enforcement Manageress, Council Office Wallah.

Anyway I have to go outside and get some fresh air, thankfully the wind is not blowing from Reading.

Hi There
Sorry to say but this is a terminal illness that is happening everywhere, the politicians have united into a slimy sticky mass that sucks up money and power.
and leaves nothing for common folk
Here it is known as the giant sucking sound, Ray Stevens even wrote a song about it http://www.raystevens.com
I find it amazing that so many people are very upset with the government and yet they keep on keeping on seemingly impervious to any attempts to stop them

Oh I guess I used up my 2 cents worth LOL

Ed

I dont think that I better had post too much here as I so anti-government in the format offered in USA and UK and most countries, except Switzerland, that I now sit squarely in the direct democracy camp.

Either that or dictatorship where I am the dictator but I wouldnt vote for that option!!

Here is a couple of quotes I found

A politician is a person that will give up your life for his country

Unknown

A man must watch his life, liberty, and property when legislature is in session

Mark Twain
