Robert has been suffering long covid for some time but is slowly improving. However I suspect his absence from this forum is due to his greater interests of civil & mechanical engineering projects. I havent spoken with him for quite a while but last time I did, he told me that he doesn’t do much photography these days (can’t find the time) and as a consequence his involvement in the forum has lapsed.

Ed Constable had been absent for a long period till his recent return and photos of Namibia. Like many people, their ‘other lives’ take priority over their time when it comes to visiting the forum. As has been said on other threads, we need to make the forum more interesting. Without that, there will be no reason to join in with the topics or even return to say ‘hello’.

I still chat with Robert from time to time - he is restoring a road roller in time for a show in July - he may resurface after that (pun intended!)

I'm just off on a 2 week railway Swiss holiday with plenty of good snow landscapes I hope to post on my return. I am not taking the A1 Sony as I need to travel as light ASAP so will have the very good little 2MP Sony RX10

Thank you all for the heads-up,good to hear about Robert and Ed C., and looking forward to see Graham`s photo`s as I am somewhat of a rail-afficionado myself, and yes, we may need to do something about the " low tide " here, so some brainstorming might be in order, having said that, there is something Amiable about being here which is not found elsewhere, so, " perk-up the pace while keeping the peace ",..a tall order to meet, yet we have been around for a long time, so I am confident that we Can and Will Persevere.

I have just "advertised" on social media - might raise interest, but I am not holding my breath!

Graham has said to me on many occasions that he still enjoys his local camera club where he can have an outlet for his photos getting good humoured critique and a bit of lighthearted competition.

The biggest inertia I experience after all these years is ……getting out of the door specifically with the intent of taking photographs. It’s much more of a serendipitous habit these days. One way to reduce that inertia is to have a specific purpose in mind for the photographs. It is no longer clients and their wads of cash :applause:  so there must be another impetus.

I have often wondered if WE as a group set ourselves a monthly collective assignment on a range of randomly chosen subjects, and presented them on the forum, if it would be (at least) another regular talking point? Would we engage with that idea in addition to posting periodic photos of our specific photographic ‘hobby’ genre?

Wonderful Idea !!..Graham is a lucky chap indeed, and yes, getting outthere can be somewhat daunting, especially with those modern lenses that look humongous and weigh accordingly, I have allways considered the 135 f2.0/180 f2.8 ED ai-s big lenses, but compared to my 24-70 VR they`re not that big at all..but my main problem is that I need to pull myself together and study Nikon Studio so that I can post here...I promise to make serious efforts in that regard..and will also see if I can shanghai unsuspecting photogs into our realm ...

Well I have to say that I have other distractions at present with my daughter suffering from leukaemia.  Also most of my photography is done pn my Fuji cameras.  Not that that would stop me posting.

I think a monthly subject may stimulate some interest or at least impetus to go take pictures.
