Yes I saw this and thought it looked very neat. It is a shame the max aperture at 600mm is f6.3 as this reduces the effectiveness of the lens as it will only guarantee AF with the latest and most expensive of the Nikon and Canon cameras. I used to have the Sigma 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 OS HSM and this did AF but it did take a while to lock on. I think I would need to test the lens on my camera before committing to purchase. Also this lens is likely to cost £$€800-1200

It will be interesting to see how the lens testers rate it. I tried a borrowed old non VR Sigma 50-500 on my D600 and found it a bit soft at 500mm f/8 with a tripod.

This lens is now available in Canon mount in Japan for about $1500 US. Tne Nikon mount should follow soon. Planning to pick one up in the spring.

been following this with avid interest since its release , first off j.k it will a/f on any camera as it fools the camera into thinking its a larger aperture somehow . in real life use i can only add what i have garnered from reading through various forums etc ,on static subjects i.e birds in bushes etc it performs exceedingly well right through the range . there have been a lot of reports of a/f not locking onto b.i.f at between 400-600mm ,but after reading them properly and digesting i reckon that 95% of them are simply user error .some of the things i have picked up on include .i.s switched on while on tripod,multi point a/f being used instead of single point ,not locking on to seagulls in flight against a grey sky and so on . what we have to remember is its a sub £1000 lens so the lower end users are going to grab at it ,the experienced guys with the pro bodies and big white lenses won't be testing or using it so the majority of complaints are coming from people who either can't or don't know how to set there camera up properly to use with a long reach lens like this . the shots i have seen from pro body cameras i.e 1D or 5D class bodies have been excellent as indeed the ones from experienced users have been. my personal view is that tamron released this at the wrong time of year as summer would have been better for its testing .

The long awaited Tamron 150-600 in Nikon mount arrived today,Fri Nov 14. Seems to check out OK and the autofocus was responsive indoors. It's dark and snowing lightly at -3C. with damp winds, nothing out of the ordinary for the season in Ontario. The close focus is good especially at 150mm. Will be taking numbers and testing soon. It weighs 2982gm. mounted on D610 with the hood, 95mm filter and cap.

Sounds like a nice lens to have. Fortunately my Nikon lens cupboard is full.  My Fuji cupboard still needs an equivalent lens but I can always use the Nikon lens to Fuji body adapter.

First impressions are favourable. The auto focus is fast and quite good in low light. Most shots are as good in live view as can be manually focused with the magnifier. I use the AF-L to focus so that it is easy to over ride with manual. My Kenko 1.5x @900mm and Nikon 2.0x @ 1200 TCs give a poorer image than a cropped 600mm shot. More redundant kit ;~(

Over the years many comparisons have been made here between using a multiplier and cropping. On almost every occasion the consensus has been towards cropping. Apart from IQ, one of the biggest advantages of cropping is the additional freedom this allows with composition. Generally zooms don't respond well with multipliers; the dedicated 'kit' multipliers that Nikon supplies with certain non zoom lenses are of course an exception to the rule.
