None of the new FF mirorless models seem to offer significantly more than the D850 or other top line mirrored cameras.

I dont think that mirrorless technology will be able to surpass the DSLR with current technology but in the near future there will be direct read from the sensor in one pass and have a 'global shutter'. More i fo here.

This will provide the ability to have to a video and stills camera with the same functionality and speed as a D850 or best video camera.
Global shutter will kill current video cameras as it has small size, low weight and high specification.

Excellent, just what I would want.:-)

More seriously, as the saying goes "One man's meat is another man's poison". What may be essentials for you is unnecessary gadgets for someone else. Nikon and Canon appear to have gone down the unnecessary gadgets route.

To be fair I can see that leaving out power hungry additions makes for a longer battery life and these cameras need all the belp they can get in that department.
