The main new improvements over the X1 are a 16mp vs. 12mp sensor and an EVF viewfinder to work in conjunction with the rear LCD.

I had an X1 for a little while. It truly had outstanding IQ but using the rear LCD was just not doable. After having an x100 and xpro-1 that both have a hybrid VF, I have to wonder what Leica is thinking. Maybe the Leica EVF is much better than Fuji's but I could not live with the EVF only on the Fuji. I shoot it 90% of the time using the OVF which is great.

Can't wait to get my hands on one of the Leica's, but the red spot alone isn't going to sell it now that Fuji has an excellent competitor ... IMHO :-)

The red spot alone is enough for some... :hardhat:

I understand that. Leica has earned it. The X1 was like a rolex watch - it just didn't have the features that I needed (a VIEWFINDER ... Duh)

Tom there is a picture on the Fuji X forums of the new X2 with the EVF attached. It is huge.
I really think this is a very poor cousin to the X100 but of course with a Leica tag it costs more than any country cousin can afford unless they own an oil well.

I'm sure it isn't as bad as it seems. I had an optical viewer for the x1 and it looked like that. Worked okbut not nearly as well asthe x100 and took the x1 out of the pocket camer class.

I think Fuji is trouncing leica In this category. In design and in IQ. And if you just HAVE to have leica glass, get an adapter

I think Fuji will have Leica's shorts for lunch in a few short years.

Leica nice stuff, but huge unrealistic pricing, and engineering that moves at a Snails pace!!

I agree, Ray

The x100 is half the price and more camera.

The xpro-1 is 20% less and a lot more camera. You should toddle down to your shop with your leica lens and see if they have an xpro-1 and adapter to let you try it out. The sensor and hybrid VF are amazing.

I have to agree ..... but then I would as I have bought both the X100 and the XPro1.

That said if the M9 was delivered to me with a good set of lenses, e.g. 24mm f2.8, 35mm f.4, 90mm f2.8 then I'd be a happy boy !!

And a very rich one!! I always liked my 21 f2.8 on my M6's, I had that lens in mind when I bought my first M6, although I couldn't afford it them. I have the 21 a 35 f2.0 and a 50f2.0 .. I always considered the 50 to be my telephoto for that system..

:salute:
