https://fstoppers.com/gear/fujifilm-officially-announces-x-t1-ir-infrared-mirrorless-camera-78416 Fuji continue to make my life difficult! Not only have they improved the AF on the XT1 with the new v4 firmware, so it really is as good as a DSLR except for very fast sports action in low light but now, this as well. Decisions need to be made before October when I come to UK with respect to my Nikon kit.

Wouldn't you know it...just got my X-e1 conversion back from Life Pixels last week  At first when I read the article, it sounded like the XT1-IR was the same prices a normal XT1...not...it's the same price as buying one and sending it off for conversion, at least that's how I read it. No worries...IR is still very limited for me and I'm only getting extremely lame shots JK, I don't think you can off the Nikons...there is a place for both. You won't get anything near what you paid for them. There are still SOME things that are worth lugging the Nikon kit to get it right. Just my thought... Tom

I agree with you Tom and I still need to go test the XT1 with the new v4 firmware at a flamenco shoot. The Nikons work well for me but the Fujis weigh nicely and produce the same quality of result.

Presumably this is the replacement for the Fuji DSLR camera that they were toting around in the D1/D2 period? ( can't remember the model number) It was widely used for forensic crime scene investigations but still required a modifying filter to switch between UV and IR ranges. I am sure the police forces may be interested but I am not sure there is any point in upgrading or replacing my converted XE. The pixel count is sufficient and the frequency of use compared to colour doesn't warrant further investment. The only advantage I see is ( on the face of it) Being able to shoot IR and UV images on the same body. But UV doesn't interest me.

Looks interesting but the specs give it's range at 380-1000 nm. For UV work a Baddar U-Filter is used to block all but 320-380nm light so it's kind of useless for UV. Here's the filter at about $400 US. Attachment: Baader filter.jpg (Downloaded 19 times)

The Fiji S3 Pro UV/IR was the camera. I agree there seems little point in getting excited by this if you have an IR camera already (or a UV one as in Robert's case).
