The XQD cards rated write speed are 150MB/sec compared with the fastest SD card (UHSii) or CF card Extreme Pro from Sandisk which is 100MB/sec.

Think you are a bit out there JK...

Taken from the Lexar XQD page I gave the link to above, the specs read as follows:

32GB—Up to 440MB/s read, 390MB/s write
64GB—Up to 440MB/s read, 400MB/s write
128GB—Up to 440MB/s read, 400MB/s write

I was looking at the SanDisk SD offerings versus the Sony XQD. There dont seem to be any Sandisk XQD cards.

Those Lexar ones are much faster.

What I'm wondering is if the camera realy needs the 150MB/sec for full preformance, 14fps 4k etc, or if the fastest SD will do the job.

The D3 managed double digit fps with 2010 cards.

I think the XQD cards are needed to make sure that it can do the 4K video effectively. Purely a guess I know little or nothing about video.
