I fully expect grief from Park Cameras, especially as there were a couple of instances when I couldn't get the lens to disengage without a bit of manoevering which has knocked the black paint off the corners of the lens mount. The other thing I noticed was the rate at which the battery drained . Also, I have now used the Tamron and it feels much lighter, focuses faster and much closer. I'll post some shots later.

The kites shots are annoyingly superb:bowing:

90% being in the right place at the right time.;-)

We have a caravan; we visit a site close by where the kites nest, during the breeding time. I stand in the caravan doorway! The only technical challenge was putting the cup of coffee down quickly enough when they approach.:-)

We recently stayed at a campsite in the Chiltens. The Kites routinely circled the field around the campsite. One morning we noticed a deer had got caught in the fencing. We called the site owner who (eventually) came down and released the sadly soon to expire creature. From that moment onwards, the Kites circled the spot where the deer “died”…and regularly landed to scavenge for any evidence of the deer’s “distress”.
