I think the results of the tests speak for themselves. It's  a good close-up and macro lens. Eric is right about the rest.

I think this demonstrates that optically the lens looks good…a little bit of post processing USM which is a prerequisite with most Nikon sensors (imho) and you have a sharp image of “whatever fills the frame close up”. If you intend doing a lot of close up photography filling the frame from under 5 foot away it’s brilliant. It just loses its way when you step back.
